A guide to Wedding Dress Shopping with Elizabeth George
We caught up with Morilee retailer Elizabeth George Bridal Boutique in Middlesbrough to hear all about what brides can expect when visiting their store. Here the lovely Katie tells us all about it…
Our shop is located in the Acklam area of Middlesbrough in the North East. You can easily get to the shop from the A19 or A66.
Do I need to book an appointment, if so how?
We prefer you to book an appointment, as this enables us to give you our full attention for an hour or so and spend time trying on different styles. You can call us on 01642 868688, email through our website or message via Facebook/Instagram to book.
What can I expect from my appointment?
We pride ourselves on our fantastic customer service and know from feedback, that our shop has a very warm and relaxing atmosphere. We will offer guidance on styles that we think will suit you and although we ask brides what they want, may suggest styles that they have never thought of. We offer privacy, when changing and help to change into all the dresses. We hope to make our brides feel as relaxed as possible and enjoy the experience.
We have 6 members of staff here at Elizabeth George, including 2 experienced seamstresses. We have 7 separate, spacious changing rooms.
What do you love about your store?
We love our job. It’s an amazing feeling to see a bride find ‘the one’ even after 12 years of business. We love that we see the same faces, time and time again as bride and bridesmaids and its always sad to see the last friend in the group get married. You feel like you really get to know each bride, from the day of ordering her gown to the day that she picks it up and create friendships with most. All of our staff are lovely and bubbly, so the shop has a great atmosphere. It is also very spacious inside with a lot of dresses to choose from.
What sort of gowns can I expect to find in store and what sells well?
We have a full range of styles and sizes ranging from slim fit gowns to full skirt dresses. We have dresses to suit a bride who wants the plainer look to more detail and sparkle. Also, brides who want straps and no straps. We also have dresses to suit all budgets. All brides have different ideas of what they’d like and are different shapes and sizes, so there’s not a particular gown that sticks out to us as popular or a bestseller. We love each and every one of the gowns that we have in store – they all have something different to offer. We do so well with the Morilee wedding gowns as there’s such a good variation of styles and they’re all so well made and simply stunning.
Why do you love working in bridal?
What’s not to love about seeing a lady find the dress of her dreams and meeting lots of new people who are all so excited about the biggest day of their lives?! It’s amazing and we love our job so much.
Is there anything else I should know?
It usually takes anything from 16-20 weeks for gowns to arrive, so take this into account when starting your shopping – don’t leave it too late! Any alterations can be advised of at your appointment and carried out by our own seamstress.
The best advice we could give to a Bride is to keep an open mind when shopping, take advice and try on different things and just enjoy the whole experience, as the memory of finding your dress will stay with you forever!
We hope that’s helped you bride-to-be ladies out there who might be nervous about what to expect from a wedding dress appointment. Don’t forget to browse our latest wedding dress designs to get an idea of what styles y
