A Real Bride Tale of Customising a Morilee Gown

We put a call out on Instagram to track down brides who had customised their gowns. We wanted to hear their story about why they chose their dress, what they wanted to change and how they went about it.

Our absolutely stunning bride Kristy got in touch and told us all about her wedding to James. She had not one but TWO Morilee gowns for her big day! We wanted to share her story with you…

Kristy told us: “I purchased both  of my Morilee wedding dresses at London Bride UK.  I  had always wanted a high – low wedding dress because I wanted to show off my shoes which were by  Christian Laboutin. I was watching the video of the Fall 2018 collection online and saw Laurel, style 8281 and I knew I wanted to try on the dress ASAP ! So, I got in touch with London Bride UK and Annabel said she could order in the wedding dress for me. Laurel is a  perfect Princess ball gown with long lace sleeves, a beautiful off the shoulder neckline and sheer back. When I arrived to the store Kim the owner showed me the dress and I remembered how the dress sparkled so much.  I tried on the dress and I got the butterflies feeling and knew it was the dress for me!

Kim knew I wanted a high – low dress and said Jean who does all the alterations for the store could easily accomplish the look I  described. I had a few appointments with Jean to get the skirt at the right length and so the dress flowed and bounced so nicely when I walked. It was truly perfect for me.

I wanted a second dress for the evening so Rye, Annabel and Kim all helped me so much and showed me the latest collection Morilee had released.  The second dress which I changed into for the evening dancing was from the Voyage collection and is called Piper 6907. When I tried it on it just felt so right and for the event and still had the sparkle I was looking for. I also purchased the rhinestone halo HP2071 to wear in the evening as that extra special touch I needed to complete my vision.  The only changed I had made on the second dress was take the front up just pass my shoes and left the back train, again so you could see my stunning evening shoes which were by YSL.

As for the wedding itself my husband James and I wanted a simple wedding and we fell in love with Southdown Manor in West Sussex. We loved how it was an exclusive and experienced wedding venue and had a lot of green outdoor space for photos. We were so lucky that the weather we had was absolutely amazing it reminded me of how we met by the river in Richmond where I was having a picnic with my friends. I completely fell or James’ charm!

If I could give brides to be any wedding tips it would be to book the venue the day before so everything is in place and there is no rushing around. This really helped us to stay cool and calm. Also, for your wedding dress with the help of an expert anything can be achieved so if you love the dress but need to make changes to make it 100% your dream dress then the store can help you to achieve this. ”

Thanks so much Kristy, you looked perfect in both dresses. Thank you for sharing your special day with us and we wish you and James all the best for the future.
