Lockdown Love Stories: Sophie & Ash

We’ve really enjoyed listening to your proposal stories in lockdown, meaning love is not on hold and we have a lot of weddings to look forward to! We caught up with Sophie from Birmingham who shared with us her very own story…

“My fiance’s name is Ash. We are each other’s “first love” ( trying not to sound too cringe here)! We met at school, he asked me to be his girlfriend when I was 15 and have been together now for the last almost 8 years. Through that we managed four years of distance whilst we were both studying at different universities and were fortunate enough to be able to move in together last summer.

We actually moved house during lockdown, so that has kept us busy, alongside continuing to work and study. We were supposed to have gone on holiday to Venice at end of April, where he was initially planning to propose. We were then supposed to have gone away to Disneyland with his family at the beginning of June, where he next planned to propose under the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Of course neither of those we were able to actually go ahead, so instead we met my parents for a walk around the countryside near where they live. As we were walking by a lake, Ash suggested to get a picture with the pretty surroundings and he got down on one knee popped the question! After dropping hints for a while, I was and still am in complete shock that it actually happened! Despite the other amazing plans, it was so special to have had my parents there who captured the whole thing.

We’re hoping to get married in 2022/23 after we’ve saved to buy a house and for the wedding. We’re from Lincolnshire but now live near Birmingham, so hope to find a venue near or between the two. We both love the idea of a Manor House or converted barn so have started having a look online and getting ideas. I’ve also started looking at dresses and have fallen in love with some of the designs from Morilee which I’ve seen on social media and Pinterest.”

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sophie. All the best for the wedding and don’t forget to share your wedding photos with us.
