Three of the best sheath wedding gowns

We take a look at the Autumn/Winter collection from our ever romantic New York designer Madeline Gardner in New York. Come with us to discover some of our best sheath silhouette bridal gowns…

Raya, style number 2072

This is an elegant satin and net gown with flattering lace detailing, deep v-neckline and pearlescent and crystal beaded embroidery to the bodice. To complete the look this gorgeous wedding dress features a cut-away, long scalloped train. We love that it is available with a sheer bodice for a summer wedding or completely lined for a more conservative look. A very simple gown, yet endlessly romantic.

Rhetta, style number 5769 – from Morilee’s Blu Collection

Bringing a more classic look this beautifully sophisticated wedding gown has a stunning peephole back – great for photos when walking down the aisle! The cute cap sleeves complement the Chantilly lace bodice and the simple crepe skirt features a show stopping cut-away train. Again, this wedding dress is available sheer or fully lined and what’s more it is available in white, ivory or ivory/nude. We think it would look fabulous on an older bride.

Rumer style number 6917, RRP under £1000 – from Morilee’s Voyage Collection

This very affordable timeless satin gown features an alluring off-the-shoulder neckline and a sparkly crystal and moonstone beaded waist belt. The back of the gown features charming silk covered buttons. We would recommend that brides avoid a necklace and instead opt for a statement silver or beaded bracelet to complete the look and complement the waist belt. This dress is available in ivory only – we just can’t get over the price!

A sheath wedding gown will typically suit a straight figure as it will help to give the body some shape with the pulled in waist and flowing skirt. They can also work well for a pear-shaped figure as long as it isn’t too tight on the bust or thighs, perhaps try a size up from what you would normally wear on the High Street. Sheath dresses are typically taken in at the waistline to accentuate the contours of the silhouette, therefore creating quite a feminine, sleek, and sexy look.

All of the above wedding dresses are now available at our authorised retailers, to find your nearest retailer visit our store finder. If you’re looking for a particular style we would recommend you call ahead to check that they stock the particular gown you are searching for.
